We are looking for a detail-oriented Junior Data Analyst to join our Financial Crime & Compliance team in our London office. Reporting to the Financial Crime Analytics Manager, you will support the monitoring and analysis of customer and transaction data to help detect financial crime, ensure regulatory compliance, and strengthen the firm's Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and sanctions screening processes.

Working closely with Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Technology teams, you will analyse large datasets, produce regulatory reports, and help identify unusual activity, trends, and potential compliance risks. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or early-career professional looking to build a career in financial crime analytics within a regulated financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse customer and transaction data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential financial crime risks.
  • Support KYC and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) reviews by analysing customer information and identifying missing or inconsistent data.
  • Assist in monitoring AML alerts and transaction monitoring reports to identify suspicious activity for further investigation.
  • Produce regular MI reports and dashboards using Power BI and Excel to support the Financial Crime and Compliance teams.
  • Write SQL queries to extract, validate, and analyse data from internal systems.
  • Support sanctions screening and politically exposed person (PEP) monitoring by maintaining accurate customer records.
  • Perform data quality checks to ensure regulatory reporting is accurate, complete, and consistent.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting and internal audits by preparing data and supporting documentation.
  • Work closely with Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Technology teams to improve reporting processes and data governance.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to automate manual reporting and enhance data quality.
  • Support ad hoc analysis relating to AML, KYC, fraud prevention, and financial crime investigations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Level 4 certification in UK Financial Regulation and Anti-Money Laundering (AML), demonstrating knowledge of UK financial regulations, KYC, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), AML legislation, and financial crime prevention.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, and data analysis functions.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL gained through university coursework, personal projects, or previous experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret data accurately and communicate findings clearly.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Power BI or Tableau.
  • Knowledge of Python (Pandas, NumPy) for data analysis.
  • Understanding of AML transaction monitoring systems and case management platforms.
  • Knowledge of sanctions screening, PEP screening, and adverse media monitoring.
  • Familiarity with FCA regulations, UK Money Laundering Regulations, and Financial Conduct Authority expectations.
  • Previous internship or placement within Compliance, Financial Crime, Risk, or Financial Services.

What We Offer:

  • Starting salary of £44,000 per annum
  • Discretionary annual performance bonus
  • Hybrid working model
  • Private healthcare
  • Employer pension contribution
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Life assurance
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Structured training and professional development
  • Clear career progression within Financial Crime, Compliance, Risk, and Data Analytics

What We're Looking For:

We're looking for a motivated and analytical individual with a genuine interest in financial crime prevention, compliance, and data analysis. You'll be eager to learn, naturally inquisitive, and committed to supporting the firm's regulatory obligations through accurate data analysis and reporting.

You'll have strong attention to detail and enjoy working with large datasets to identify trends, inconsistencies, and potential risks. You'll be comfortable working in a regulated environment where accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism are essential.

We're also looking for someone who can communicate effectively with colleagues across Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Technology, while demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement. A passion for using data to strengthen KYC, AML, and financial crime controls will help you succeed in this role.
